Our student blogger, Diego, writes about his experience studying at Greenwich College
From my experience, Greenwich has two types of English, which are General English and Academic English. First of all, General English helps student to have a better level of English; furthermore, General English is divided in 5 levels: beginner, elementary, pre-int, intermediate, and upper-int. Personally, I took the 3 last courses and they gave me a strong base for my academic studies. Having a great base of English is what makes everyone go to a higher level.
On the other hand, Academic English courses mean that the preparation that the student receives is stronger and academic as well. Besides, Academic English courses have a different focus for each course; for instance, some students want to go to university. Other Academic courses are: IELTS, CAE, FCE, EAP. In my personal experience, I took two of these academic courses, IELTS and EAP, and these 2 courses have helped me to develop my English language skills). The teachers that teach these kinds of courses are well prepared and have the adequate technology to do so. Although many students are scared of these academic courses, they must know that academic courses are a great way to improve their second language. In addition, my advice for every student is “don’t feel scared of something that you have never experienced, just face it!”
