BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME

Congratulations on your enrolment! There are some important things you will need to do, and we've prepared this checklist to help you make sure you don't overlook anything.

Checklist

  • VisaOrganise your student visa.
  • MoneyThere are money exchange places available at Australian airports and in cities, but it is recommended to have some Australian currency on you prior to leaving your home country.
  • PassportCheck to ensure that your passport is valid for the intended length of your study period in Australia.
  • Contact detailsYou may want to have a list of emergency contact details for family, as well as your embassy, accommodation and institution details. If you have used an education agent, keep their contact details on you, in case you need to contact them once you arrive in Australia.
  • Medical CareHave medical, optical and dental check-ups and organise any prescribed medication you may require including a letter from your doctor (in English) detailing any prescribed medicines.
  • DocumentationPack a document folder containing your offer letter, Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), academic transcripts from previous study, identification documents, important contact numbers, details of pre-arranged accommodation and important medical records.
  • Airport pickupYou may make your own way from the airport to your accommodation or book your airport pick up through us by completing the Accommodation and Airport Transfer application form.
  • Customs and quarantineCheck customs and quarantine regulations and pack any items you wish to declare separately.
  • AccommodationBook temporary accommodation before you leave your home country by completing the Accommodation and Airport Transfer application form. Start looking for long-term accommodation as early as possible.
  • InsuranceOrganise insurance for your personal belongings.
