Are you looking for online resources to help you practice your English skills beyond your classwork? Awesome! Take a look at this extremely useful list of some amazing websites (and apps!) that are helpful for students at all levels.

quizlet.com

Need help memorising new vocabulary? Then Quizlet is your new friend! With Quizlet, you make online flashcards, and the website generates games that let you practise them. You can put an English word on one side and the definition on the other side, or you can put a translation in a different language. The ones you get wrong are presented to you more often, so you can use your time wisely and not waste time going over what you already know!

englishpage.com

englishpage.com is an easy to navigate website that has extensive resources for all of your English skills, including links to popular newspapers and radio shows. Perhaps its best feature is the online grammar exercises, a great way to practice the current grammar topics you are studying or to brush up on ones you haven't practiced in a while.

duolingo.com

duolingo is an extremely website (and app!) that gamifies language learning. This means that all the steps of learning the language feel like fun little games! It's enjoyable, addictive, and is a great way to improve your English skills even is you only have a few extra minutes a day. Aside from English, duolingo offers practice in over 30 languages, including some fictional ones from your favourite books and TV shows!

bbc.co.uk/learningenglish

This BBC run website has pretty much everything. There are links to grammar, vocabulary, listening, pronunciation, and more! It even has an excellent idiom section that gives you the meaning and a detailed example of dozens of idioms.

abc.net.au/btn

Behind The News is an excellent website to help understand what is going on around Australia. The information and videos are mainly intended for school students, but they are great even for adult learners here in Australia because they're all Australian and spoken at "normal" speed without using language that is too difficult. Good for practising understanding of the Australian accent! The videos are short, interesting, and have the transcripts available.

newsinlevels.com

News in Levels provides news articles written in three different levels, with accompanying audio files and definitions of difficult words. The highest difficulty may not be very challenging to high level students, but this is a great resource for low to mid level students. In addition to the news articles, they also provide some basic grammar exercises.

rewordify.com

Rewordify is a great way to lower the difficulty level of advance reading resources you find online. Using this site, you can copy and paste an article into the box provided, click "Rewordify text", and the website will identify difficult words and provide simpler explanations or synonyms. There is also an option for colour-coding the different parts of speech in an article. This can help students understand difficult articles and learn new vocabulary!

sbs.com.au/ondemand

If you don't want to pay for a Netflix subscription, you can watch heaps of interesting TV shows, movies, and documentaries here for free!

lyricstraining.com

LyricsTraining is an easy and fun website (and app) used to learn and improve your language skills through the music videos and the lyrics of your favorite songs. Music is a great way to learn and listen to different accents and pronunciation. This resource is especially valuable for people who want to learn informal grammar structures and slang vocabulary. It even has a special karaoke mode that lets you sing and practice the lyrics!

We hope this list has helped you find the extra practice you were looking for! Happy learning!
