Dear Student,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we temporarily transition your learning to an online  platform.

Greenwich English College has chosen Zoom for online delivery. It’s easy and can be done on a computer, tablet or even a phone!

What will happen next:

We know you have lots of questions about how you will join your classes next week. Don't worry, it's all very easy!

1. Your teacher will email or get in contact with you over the weekend to say hello and introduce themselves.

2. Download the Zoom App on your phone/laptop/tablet:

3. Before your classes begin, you will receive another email from your teacher with information on how to join your class and a guide to using Zoom and Google Drive.

4. If you are interested in testing it out before Monday to see what Zoom looks like, click on this link: https://zoom.us/test

5. As you prepare to take your studies online, we have created some helpful tips to get you started. Top 3 Tips to prepare for online study.

6. FAQs Greenwich College Online Learning

ZOOM is an interactive platform and allows teachers and students to:

  • Video chat
  • Share their screens (presentations, video clips, etc.)
  • Share files
  • Participate in group chats
  • “Raise their hand” → it’s easy to ask questions!
  • Participate in polls
  • Move into smaller groups and pairs to practice language/share ideas → these are called breakout rooms and the teacher can monitor each group individually
  • Write on a “whiteboard”

Google Drive:

Additional materials will be supplied via Google Drive, so students will be able to access extra handouts, homework, worksheets and so on.

Students joining a class for the first time will have access to it online until their book reaches them by post.

Timetables:

Your timetable will be the same as it was prior to the switch to online delivery.
- Day timetables will begin at 09:00am until 3:00pm.
- Evening timetables will begin at 4:30pm and finish at 9:00pm.

See the below example for how the classes will be structured:

As we know, the best way to learn English is to practice, practice practice - so our online delivery is engaging and interactive. Our teaching methodology has not changed - only our platform, so be prepared to learn, communicate and be challenged to reach your English language goals.
