Sydney Spring Carnival: If you like fancy dresses horses, head on down to the Sydney Spring Carnival. Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens host nine weeks of horse racing events, so grab a couple of friends and watch the festivities unfold as you sip ciders in the sun. Newtown Festival: With over 90,000 people heading out to the Newtown Festival, you might need to get in early for this one. Held at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park, enjoy five stages of live music, market and food stalls, pop-up bars, cafes and restaurants, and family-friendly activities. Norton Street Festa: Sydney’s Little Italy will host their annual spring festival of Italian food, music and entertainment in Leichhardt’s busiest streets. The Norton Street Festa is a foodie’s delight – pasta, meatballs, coffee, free cooking demonstrations – but also offers a little something for everyone else including a vintage car show, carnival rides and a petting zoo. Fringe Festival: Sydney’s Fringe Festival is the largest independent arts festival in NSW. Spread across five cultural villages, the Sydney Fringe presents over 300 productions – music, art installations, crafts, silent dinner parties - in over 50 venues every September. It’s a great way to celebrate local artists and encourage new audiences to experience the independent arts of Sydney. Get more details here: http://www.sydneyfringe.com/

Music Festivals: If you feel like getting away from Sydney for a weekend of road trips, camping and dancing, check out the key music festivals happening around the state. Most of the best ones happen around December, but you will probably want to book your tickets ASAP. Our top picks are The Falls Festival in Byron Bay, Lost Paradise in Glenworth Valley and Subsonic at Riverwood Downs Mountain Valley Resort.
